Chemist, Biologist, Software Engineer
In May of 2023, I graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Minor in Biology — while also completing significant coursework in Computer Science. So far, I have had Research Associate roles at three biotech startups as an intern. These experiences have spiked my fascination with computational chemistry and the potential it wields in building medicines. Since graduating, I have worked through online courses to fine-tune and expand my dry lab capabilities and software engineering skills. Ultimately, I earned the AWS Machine Learning Specialty Certification on September 22, in an effort to become an expert in designing and sustaining end-to-end data pipelines with high performance cloud computing services. As of now, I am looking into Software Engineer and Machine Learning Engineer related roles in both the tech and biotech industries.
Professional Certifications
AWS Machine Learning Specialty
Certifies an engineer’s ability to “research, build, and design artificial intelligence (AI) systems to automate predictive models, and design machine learning systems, models, and schemes” on AWS.
Programming Languages
Python
Expert
Advanced in data structures and algorithms, along with ML and DL modeling using libraries like Scikit-Learn and TensorFlow. Built projects such as “Small Molecule Property Predictor” which predicts molecules’ partition coefficients with a random forest regressor using molecular data from ChEMBL, along with others that utilize CNNs, RNNs, K-Means, K-Nearest Neighbors, and more (refer to GitHub here).
Java
Proficient
Proficient in object-oriented programming and statistical algorithm implementation in Java.
C
Proficient
Proficient in C, complemented by an adept use of the Linux operating system.
SwiftUI
Proficient
Proficiency developing iOS applications with SwiftUI.
SQL
Proficient
Proficiency manipulating tabular data, querying, utilizing aggregate functions, and using shifts (etc.) to integrate multiple tables of data.
JavaScript
Experienced
Experience creating responsive, dynamic web pages and user interfaces — with HTML & CSS, as well.
Professional Experience
Tessera Therapeutics
→ Explored habits of ssRNA and dsRNA under varying enzymatic conditions using HPLC-MS to inform upstream decisions
→ Performed plate-based assays to quantize antibody and antigen interactions (e.g. ELISA)
Zea Biosciences
→ Facilitated biologics’ growth via plant hydroponics in an ISO 7 Cleanroom
→ Designed a Growtronix sensor system that streams thousands of data points (e.g. pH, EC) into the company’s database, daily
Abiologics
→ Synthesized affibodies through manually coupled reactions and robotic programming to scale peptide generation
→ Purified peptides by using refined collection methods (i.e. isocratic and gradient) on a preparative HPLC-MS
→ Coded Python script to integrate our unique chemistry with the specific formats required by advanced protein modeling platforms
→ Helped develop computational workflow of the company (e.g. implementation of MPNN)
